Suffolk Pantry

Suffolk Pantry

Introduction

The idea is to link the modern kitchen extension with the Elizabethan farmhouse, by use of traditional materials and techniques. These doors are made in solid Iroko and cathedral float glass, which has its own character and imperfections, softly illuminated from within, the bottle green colour glows.

Process

We commissioned removable stainless steel trays sitting in Iroko frameworks. These can travel from pantry to kitchen garden to prep space - wherever the produce is needed. Above these is a row of drawers with cup handles.

The finger jointed drawer boxes above are designed to contain dried herbs, spices and flavourings. When needed in the kitchen these can be simply removed and carried through in their box. The boxes can be organised by cuisine for convenience.

Finished Project

The clients are keen wine connoisseurs and have an extensive wine collection. This rack was designed to hold the day to day requirements as they arrive from the cellar. A black granite worksurface runs around the pantry area providing cold storage.

This pantry also includes finger jointed trays, and bespoke chopping boards, all made in Iroko. We are very proud of the craftsmanship on display here which harks back to traditional values of taking time, pride and care over every detail.
