Introduction

What a difference a 1m extension can make, transforming a dark galley kitchen into a light open space featuring a 3.3 x 1.2m island and bi-fold doors onto the garden!

Process

Having installed 4 kitchens around the world, our clients envisaged exactly what they wanted: a very large island as a gathering point for family life: working at home and homework, cooking and eating.

The idea behind the design has been to group elements together within frameworks then layer and separate the groupings to form a quirky and unique composition of materials, shape and proportion.

Finished Project

50mm thick worktops made in Hi Macs with an 80mm asymmetric waterfall end give a seamless, work surface to sink elevation and island. The glass splashback gives an uninterrupted background.

This kitchen is one of our 'purest' designs in that there were very few client changes: the design is true to David's original vision resulting in a "beautiful, functional and sociable" family kitchen.
