Islington Coffee Table

Islington Coffee Table

Our brief was to convert a light and high atrium entrance hall into a family room with the installation of feature book cases, a computer desk, and a screen creating a division between the front entrance and galleried atrium beyond.

Finished Project

Here you can see a couple of open drawers on opposite sides of the table. These are fantastic storage for all your bits and bobs, keys, phones, magazines and the clutter that can accumulate in life.

The table's vertical and horizontal planes have solid elm lippings applied, which have been over-veneered on the front surface to achieve these mitred joint details. Lovely grain too, and shadow gaps.

Sometimes pieces take on personalities of their own – it might be their proportions or perhaps just a leg at each corner - in this case, these cute bedside tables in elm became known as the Piglets – judge for yourself.
