Introduction

This architect designed project created a stunning inside/outside room which featured in Beautiful Kitchens magazine. Accent lighting has been used to delineate furniture and space creating a calm, streamlined space.

Process

Lovely by day and beautiful by night, large bi-fold doors connect the kitchen to the patio area, the open-plan room is perfect for relaxing and entertaining guests as well as being ultimately functional.

In addition to the task lighting which softly illuminates the polished concrete worksurface, the kitchen features lighting washing down the glass splashback. The tambour unit at the end of the counter conceals kettle, toaster and breakfast things.

Finished Project

The warm grey of the piano finish laquer softens the clean lines of the cabinetry. Piano finish is an incredibly tough and hardwearing finish where polyester paint is applied in thick layers and buffed to a mirror sheen. Beware of imitations!

In the alcoves to either side of a disused chimney breast we made a pair of wine racks to store the client's collection. Light from the back-panel shines through the Perspex trellis so the wine appears to almost float within the enclosures.
